- NVCL Newcomer Teen Language Lab – North Vancouver City Library are hosting a weekly language lab on Wednesdays from 4:00pm-5:00pm. This program is open to teens in grade 8-12 to practise English conversation skills, improve confidence and make new friends. - DNV Youth Action Grants – The District of North Vancouver is providing a limited funding opportunity for youth to take meaningful actions that improve physical and digital spaces across the North Shore. - Be Here & Be Queer – Foundry presents a queer-led 2SLGBTQIA+ social and recreational group for youth (age 16-24) every Monday from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Each week, the group will engage in various activities in a safe, affirming and supportive space where youth can be themselves and connect with others. To register, contact [email protected].
- Creative Crafts and Games –Foundry presents a social group for youth (age 12-16) with mental health barriers and/or neurodiversities to connect with peers while participating in different crafts and board games. The group meets every Tuesday from 3:30pm-5:00pm. To register, contact [email protected].
- Winter Groups –Foundry presents two winter socials for youth (age 12-24) at Foundry North Shore. Hot Chocolate Jar Making on Wednesday, December 18 from 1:30-3:30pm and Gingerbread House Making on Friday, December 20 from 1:30-3:30pm. To register, contact [email protected].
- Mindful Yoga – Foundry presents a yoga class for youth (age 12-24) of all experience levels. The class takes place at John Braithwaite Community Centre every Thursday from 2:15pm-3:15pm. To register, contact [email protected].
- Emergency First Aid Training Course – Foundry’s Work and Education Program presents a one-day course for Emergency First Aid CPR/AED Level C on January 30 from 8:45am-5:00pm. The course takes place at Life Preservers North Vancouver (224 Lonsdale Ave) and is open to North Shore youth (age 15-24) who engage in fewer than 15 hours a week in school, training or work and are not currently enrolled in another employment support program. - Mindfulness and Stress Relief – North Vancouver District Public Library is offering a stress relief workshop on Sunday, January 12 from 2:30pm-3:30pm at Lynn Valley Library. This workshop is guided by youth and offered to youth (age 12-20). To register, contact [email protected].
- Holiday Dinner – West Vancouver Youth Services is offering a free festive holiday barbecue on Saturday, December 14 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at West Vancouver Community Centre. This year, Youth Services is supporting the Hollyburn Community Services Society; please bring non-perishable food, clothing or toiletries to donate if you are able. - Drop-In Youth Art Therapy – Capilano Community Services presents a fun and creative art session for youth (age 12-15). - NVCL Youth Drop-In – The Room on the 2nd Floor of North Vancouver City Library is reserved for youth (grade 7-12) Monday-Thursday from 3:00pm-6:00pm and Friday from 3:00pm-5:00pm to hang out with friends, complete homework, read, use computers, etc. Registration is not required. - Wired 4 Success – Hollyburn Community Services Society offers an ongoing 13 week program designed for youth (age 16-30) with barriers to employment. This program offers individualized planning, financial support, work experience and education encouraging youth to secure employment in their field of interest. - North Shore PACT – The CMHA has launched a civilian-led team that will respond to crisis calls related to mental health and substance use on the North Shore. Youth (age 13+) can receive over the phone or in-person help with a range of mental health issues.
